Towards a Rule of Life

I am very pleased about the way in which so many members of St John's are thinking seriously about our Rule of Life initiative.  We have had positive feedback after the last evening meeting, in April at St Andrew’s: those who attended felt that it had been useful and creative. So, as I mentioned then, we have organised another event on Tuesday 23rd October, at 7pm, in St John’s. Vespers is at 6pm so you'd also be welcome at that.

During the evening I will be asking the Accompaniers to share their thoughts about their own Rules of Life - including me, which will encourage me to focus my thoughts! Then Lisa will lead a session on creative prayer, in response to your requests last time - and we will also have time to share how the Rule is going for us, and spend time in silence together. We’ll finish by 9 pm.

It would be lovely to see lots of people there: let me know if you can come and if you'd like a light supper beforehand:

Also by popular demand we have organised another Quiet Day for the beginning of Advent. It will be on Saturday 1st December, at the Royal Foundation of St Katharine as last year, starting at 10 a.m. Jenny Morgans, the curate at St Anselm’s, Kennington, will lead the morning, focusing on Mary and Elizabeth: then, after lunch, we will have time for reflection and prayer and end with a Eucharist. We are asking for a contribution of £10 to cover costs.

Places will be in demand so, again, could you register using this link:  You'd be very welcome of course whether you are following the Rule of Life initiative or not. The day will, I am sure, be inspiring for everyone.

The background documents about the Rule of Life are here. If you haven't had a look already - or even if you have - do browse through them and see or remind yourselves of what it's all about ...
