Woodwind Orchestra Play Day

Shea Lolin, Artistic Director

The Woodwind Orchestra Play Days are educational days held each year in London, Leeds and new for 2020 is Cardiff, Wales’ Capital city. The focus of them is to explore original repertoire and arrangements of the rarely heard soundworld of the woodwind orchestra.

For each of the days, a team of visiting conductors take sessions along with Artistic Director, Shea Lolin. It is a great way of meeting other woodwind players and to have great fun whilst making music in a large-scale orchestra. In addition to the playing, there are several trade stands selling instruments, accessories, sheet music and a whole load of advice for you and your playing!

As a rough guide, we suggest you are approximately grade five on your respective instrument to be able to best enjoy the day. But if you are a keen grade three or a diploma level musician, there will surely be something for you. Although requests cannot be guaranteed, please make a note with your application if you wish to play particular parts (such as first clarinet or third flute).

Tutors for the London event are: Paul Harris, Shea Lolin, James Rae and Callum Rookes.
